E Lu’u mai — Come Ride the Swell and Dive in with us in cultivating a beautiful, just, abundant and healthy Planet and World!!!

In our recent past the colonial powers, such as Britain, France and America, carved up the Pacific and attempted to reshape it into their own likeness. So the great Pacific Peoples and Ocean Nations of the Moananuiakea (the great expanse of the Ocean; Oceania) were divided into three parts; Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia. Division is the way of Empire and under Empire the divisions seem to grow exponentially everyday and in every way.

But Empire is not our way…not our way as Kanaka (Humans), as Kanaka Maoli (Or Native Hawaiians), as Peoples of Moananuiakea (Oceania) nor as members of the Indigenous Peoples of the World.

We of Moananuiakea are connected by genealogy, cosmology, and collectively thru our ancient guardianship and kuleana (responsibility) to care for and maintain the abundance of the great Moananuiakea. A responsibility bestowed upon us by the Akua (Gods and Creator).

As the cacophony of industrialization, modernity and Empire reach a nearly deafening level globally, we  remember to listen not to the noise of Empire but to the old songs…the  ancient songs of Creation. Returning to the songs of Papahanaumoku -Earth Mother, who teaches us we are connected/interconnected to all life and all of Humanity through the Ocean.

Living the way of Aloha Aina means to restore the health and well being of the World from Mauna Kea to the great Monananuiakea. Aloha Aina means Ma-uka to Ma-Kai, that is, from the Mountains to the Sea and everything in between.

How we view the world is how we will ultimately treat the world! What we do to the land and the sea we do to ourselves. The controlling industrial narrative is that the Ocean belongs to everyone but is controlled by no one. In fact, the Ocean is being both controlled and dominated by the industrial nations and their extractive industries from deep sea mining to industrial fishing all at the expense of everyone and every living thing on Planet Earth! This is destroying our Ocean and our Planet!

We must shift this false narrative and paradigm, so that the Land and Ocean are protected and cared for by all and specifically for all life including Humankind.

The paradigms of injustice, corporate exploitation, extraction, colonization, occupation, human domination and the systematic and institutional abuse of people and all the life on this Planet are shifting.

These shifts are happening because of a collective political will. A will not centered in politics alone but rather centered in our collective humanity and our will to protect all living things for a better world for our future generations.

In the Kumulipo (the ancient Hawaiian Song/Chant of Creation), we learn that the Whales helped to sing all of Mankind into being…they continue to sing that ancient song. Can we sing along with the songs of Papahanaumoku and the Whales! Are you ready to sing along for a new Abundant Earth?

If your are…E Lu’u Mai catch the wave and Dive in with us!!!
